Building Beem Credit Union

Welcome to Beem Credit Union, a growing community of 160,000+ members that live and work in communities across our beautiful province. Thank you for being a part of our journey to build a first of its kind, province-wide credit union designed to serve members for generations to come.

Be financially empowered”

Beem Credit Union was revealed as the legal name for the new credit union after members and employees expressed the importance of operating under one common name. One name to unify our teams, and create clear and consistent Beem experiences for all members.

We will continue to operate under our existing trade names: Interior Savings, North Peace Savings, Gulf & Fraser, and GFCU Savings.

Serving members as we always have, now from across the province

We have a lot to look forward to as we work to bring our founding credit unions together in the future. In the meantime, members can expect business as usual through 2024, this includes existing banking products, services, and experiences including:

  • Paying for purchases using their debit card
  • Log in to our app or online banking with the same username and password
  • Call our support centres to get the same great service

Starting January 2, 2024, members can walk through the doors of any founding credit union location to do their day-to-day banking.

Rates will also be aligned at all locations, and if you’re looking for a product or service offered by Gulf & Fraser, there’s no need to open a new membership; we will be pleased to work with you to find a solution.

Why we are better together

As a province-wide credit union, we’ll continue to put people before profits as we work to build stronger communities in BC.

The merged credit union creates a network of over 50 branches along with insurance offices, from downtown Vancouver, through the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, into the Interior including the Okanagan, Thompson and Boundary and into Northern BC, including Prince George and the North Peace region, offering personal, business, commercial, insurance and wealth management solutions and advice.

With the challenges facing credit unions today and into the future, bringing together two strong organizations will strengthen the merged credit union’s long-term ability to continue to add value to members, serve them and the local community, while offering employees meaningful careers.

The Boards and Management of both credit unions are strategically aligned to believe that we can be better prepared to address this through merging.

Absolutely not. Both credit unions are well run and financially sound. Both Boards believe that a position of strength is the best time to merge and to retain the philosophy and values that our credit unions have been built on.

CEO of the new credit union will be Brian Harris, current President and CEO of Interior Savings.
